Buzz consultants liaise regularly with journalists on behalf of a number of clients spanning the corporate and not-for-profit sectors.  Our success at identifying newsworthy media hooks, developing professional relationships with journalists, responding to media requests in a timely and appropriate manner and gaining positive media coverage is well documented.

Buzz utilises Slice Media to obtain media coverage. A division of Media Monitors, Slice monitors Australian and New Zealand media from over 2,600 news sources including newspapers, magazines, journals, AM and FM radio, television, blogs and websites.

Relevant to each project or client, we set up a tracking folder to monitor the following Australian media - national daily papers, capital city daily papers, regional non-daily papers, regional daily papers, suburban papers, rural papers, lifestyle magazines, business magazines, science and technology magazines, trade magazines, national TV, national radio, metropolitan TV, metropolitan radio, regional TV, regional radio, internet news and internet blogs.

Buzz receives email alerts from Slice Media notifying us of recent media coverage. The bulk of the coverage is received each morning, while major news coverage is emailed as it occurs. The articles are saved as PDF files and then distributed to each client by email. If anything requires action or a response, we will advise the client immediately.

Buzz consultants have extensive experience working with government departments. Whether it’s planning an event around a ministerial announcement or drafting a joint media release, we understand the approval process and always adhere to protocols.

Department of Environment and Conservation(DEC) event
Buzz was employed by the DEC to organise and implement all aspects of a launch event for International Composting Awareness Week. The project included securing exhibitors for a mini tradeshow in Forrest Place, coordinating a press conference with the Minister for Environment, and all publicity leading up to, and following, the event.

BHP Billiton’s Yarrie Mine announcement
In conjunction with the Premier’s office, BHP Billiton held a press conference to announce the largest Indigenous contract in Australian history (worth in excess of A$300 million). Buzz was employed to develop all media and marketing material for the announcement and to manage the press conference with the Premier’s office.

Western Power
Initially employed to rewrite (and condense) its 200+ page website, Buzz now produces a range of communication material for Western Power, ensuring strict approval processes and detailed style guides are adhered to at all times.

GO3 Expo and Conference
Buzz was employed two weeks before the launch of the GO3 Expo and Conference to secure attendance from key television, radio and print journalists (including MTV America and Japan), manage 100+ international media and organise a press conference with the Minister for Industry and Enterprise.

Long-time Buzz consultant Christine Borbas has extensive government experience having worked with the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Western Power (Pilbara branch), as Regional Liaison Officer to the Minister for the South West (Bunbury) and as Electorate and Research Officer for the Office of Fred Riebeling MLA (Karratha).
